The Borno Police Command said on Tuesday that it had
arrested a 29-year-old student, Mr Paul Mari who allegedly
stole eight cars in Maiduguri.
The Police Commissioner, Mr. Clement Adoda while briefing
journalists on Tuesday at the state command, Maiduguri
said that the suspect was arrested on Sept. 28, by men of the
state Anti Robbery Squad after a tip off.
“On Sept. 28, one Paul Mari, a final year student of the
Department of Business Education in the University of
Maiduguri was arrested by a team of Special Anti Robbery
Squad in Maiduguri.
“The suspect who specialized in the theft of motor cars was
arrested along Bama Road, while attempting to steal a
Honda Civil Salon car
with registration number MKA 92 AH, belonging to one Mrs
Ummi Umar,” he said.
Adoda said that Mari confessed on interrogation to have
previously stolen six other cars in the metropolis.
However, to prevent incessant car snatching and other
criminal activities in Borno state, the police commissioner,
urged residents to be “security conscious” by installing anti-
theft security devices in their vehicles and report any
suspicious movements in their communities to the police for
appropriate action in fighting crimes.
