The Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force,
Enugu State Command, has arrested a notorious armed
robbery suspect, Arinze Nwachukwu.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere
Amaraizu, explained that the suspect, who hails from Nkanu
West Local Government Area of Enugu State, had been on
the wanted list over numerous cases, including car snatching
and armed robbery.

Our correspondent learnt that the arrest followed violent
clashes among some youths in Atakwu Akegbeugwu
community over the control of revenue generated from their
sand field.

In the course of the civil disturbances, two persons were
seriously injured and taken to the University of Nigeria
Teaching Hospital, Enugu, for treatment, but police officers
who came to restore order in the community arrested
Nwachukwu after identifying him as a suspect on the wanted
list.

Amaraizu, in the statement, noted that calm has since
returned to the sand field site, while the suspect is helping
the operatives in their investigations into the civil
disturbances and his nefarious activities.
In another development, operatives of the Special Anti
Robbery Squad have arrested a teenager, Christian Ogbodo,
who is suspected to be a member of Aye confraternity, in
Enugu.
