Lagos – Three suspected members of a secret cult, including
two teenagers, were on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu
Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with causing breach of
peace at Lagos Island.
The accused persons — Nureni Aruna, 20; Usman Omololu,
18, and Damilola Durojaye, 18, whose addresses are not
provided, are each facing charges of causing breach of the
peace and belonging to a secret cult.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Daniel Ighodalo, told the court that the
accused persons committed the offences on Oct. 6 at
Aroloya Street and the adjacent Obe Street at Lagos Island.
Ighodalo explained that the three men, suspected to be
members of a cult group, “O-Strong”, were involved in
disrupting the peace at Lagos Island on the fateful day.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 40 and 166
(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 40 stipulates seven years imprisonment for any
member of an unlawful.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges
preferred against them.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olaitan Ajayi, granted them bail in the
sum of N40, 000 each with one surety in like sum and
adjourned the case till Oct. 24. (NAN)
